StarVision Sports Tournament Rules

Game Play

1. This tournament is for the kids- lets always keep that in mind.
2. Normal high school rules with stop clock on all dead balls.
3. There will be two 16 minute halves for all divisions 4. 3 timeouts total per game - 2 full timeouts and 1 thirty-second timeout 5. One minute halftime.
6. Guaranteed 3-minute warm-up between games 7. Overtime is 2 minutes - One 30 second timeout only in the first overtime with no carryovers. Each extra overtime is 1 minute with no timeout 8. A player fouls out on his 5th personal foul 9. A team reaches 1 and 1 bonus on the 10th team foul of each half. There is no 2- shot bonus.
10. 2 technicals result in automatic ejection from the game.
11. There is no dunking allowed during pre-game or halftime warm-ups. This can result in a technical foul.
12. Boys 9U, 10U, 11U, and 12U and girls teams will use 28.5” ball. Boys 13U, 14U, 15U, 16U, and 17U teams use regular size Men's ball. Bring your own balls for warm-ups.
13. During the Championship round only (not during pool play), if a team is ahead by 20 or more points with one minute to go, the clock will not stop during that last minute, even on free throws or even if the point difference goes under 20 points in the last minute. The Tournament Director will have the final say regarding any disputes.
14. If a team is up by 20 points, the last 3 minutes (not 1 minute) the clock does not stop no matter what.
15. A referee may officiate no more than 3 games in a row. After officiating his/her 3rd game in a row, the official MUST sit out 2 games before they can officiate again.

Ranking/Seeding/Brackets

16. Team listed on the left and top of bracket is home and wears light color. Bring both colors to game in case a team does not have extra uniforms 18. Seeding from each pool will be determined by win-loss record in pool play. In case of ties, head-to-head competition determines seed. If 3 teams are tied, a point system comes into effect to determine the 1, 2, and 3 seeds of the pool. There is a maximum of +15 for a win in pool and – 15 for a loss in pool. All games in pool are included in determining the point system. In case the 3 teams are still tied, the least total points allowed in pool play will determine the higher seed. In case there is still a tie, a coin toss will determine seeding. In case of disputes, the Tournament Director’s decision is final.
17. At the end of pool play, check brackets at your gym or at Headquarters for seeding as you might play within a few hours. In case of changes, the brackets at Headquarters are final and official. Please check with the gym you are playing in to verify any bracket times and locations. You are responsible for knowing where and when your team plays. You can always ask the gym supervisor to check for you at the gym where you finish pool play or come to Headquarters. If you do not arrive at your scheduled bracket game on time, it can potentially be forfeited. This decision is up to the tournament director.
18. We will present individual trophies to all team members for 1st & 2nd place in each division’s championship.

Qualifying

19.  By participating in any "StarVision Sports" events, every participant and coach agrees to have and maintain their own personal insurance policy, to be in effect at the time of the event.
20. While it is prohibited to play a player down a division, it is permissible to play a player up one division if necessary. Example: An organization has an 11u team and a 12u team in the tournament at the same time. If they wanted, some of the 11u kids could play on the 12u team in addition to playing for the 11u team. But the 12u kids could never play on the 11u team.
21. Age/Grade Qualifications- Boys and Girls teams: Players must meet either the age or grade qualification for the division. For example, in the 15U/9th grade division, players must be 15 years or younger as of September 1 2009 or be in the 9th grade to participate. There is no limit to the number of players meeting either qualification. However, players meeting the grade qualification cannot be more than 1 year over age for the division up until the 17U division. Girls & Boys Unsigned Seniors: Unsigned seniors can play as long as they have not committed in writing to play for a college at any level. Unsigned prep school players are also eligible to play in our tournaments. If a player has signed a letter of intent and you think they won’t qualify because of grades, they still cannot play. The tournament management has the right to exclude any senior from playing. If a team is found to have an illegal player (over age), they will receive losses for all games played and possibly be disqualified from the tournament. The player in question will not be allowed to play. Do not embarrass yourself or your team by bringing illegal players. For all teams, no matter the division, bring proof of age/grade of all your players with you to the tournament. This is important.
22. For NCAA Certified Events Only- All Coaches who sit on the bench MUST provide a Valid ID and MUST be certified through the NCAA.  Failure to provide this information results in disqualification of the tournament.
